Production Engineeing Team Leader

Advanced Selection Ltd has been appointed to resource for a Production Engineering Team Leader for its electronics manufacturing organisation located in the West Sussex region.

The Production Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for managing a team of up to 8 Technicians / Engineers with responsibility for providing Engineering support to Operations.

Duties of the position will include:

· Conduct regular performance reviews, identifying training and development needs. Provide mentoring and facilitate training where required. · Manage team admin including attendance records, training records and asset register. · Regularly review progress of goals, priority of tasks and workload within the team. · Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, breakdown, service contracts and call-out cover. · Maintain compliance with departmental and company procedures. · Key contributor in identifying and implementing quality and operational improvements. · Provide root-cause analysis, written reports and implementation of corrective actions in response to specific quality issues. · Support Production in resolving day-to-day problems. · Manage compliance to ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) requirements. · Manage the assessment and mitigation against Health & Safety risks posed by production equipment, tooling, materials, chemicals and processes. · Manage Production layout changes and maintain up-to-date layouts on AutoCAD. · Support the Global Engineering functions on aspects of NPI and DFM. · Manage change control.

Competencies and key skill requirements

· Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. · Excellent team working and communication skills, capable of liaising with other departments at all levels. · Ability to train and mentor others. · Demonstrate a high level of technical problem solving expertise. · A good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH legislation. · Experience of NPI and DFM in an electromechanical environment. · Experience of reviewing Printed Circuit Board layouts. · Experience of continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Lean manufacture. · Familiar with change control systems.

Skills, education and experience

· Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. · Supervisory experience. · PC literate, competent with MS Word, Excel, Access and Autocad LT. · Minimum of 3 years experience in an electromechanical assembly & test environment
